Double cleansing is one of the latest trends in skincare but is there any value in it? It’s a very simple process and exactly what it sounds like. It’s when you cleanse your face twice, first with a makeup remover and second with an actual cleanser.
My thoughts when I first heard this were that it would probably be drying and would be yet another skincare product to purchase. But curiosity got the best of me so I decided to give it a try.
Here’re the 2 products I’ve been using together:
I can honestly say I love both products. But for today, I want to tell you what happened when I used them together as a double cleansing method. Going in with the Mac Cleanse Off Oil seemed to loosen the makeup up easily. I massaged a small amount (a pea sized dot) into my face and then went back with a wet, warm cloth to remove it. Then I applied a pea sized amount of the cleanser to my face and then rinsed it away with a warm, wet cloth. My face feels smooth, soft and very clean after double cleansing with this method. It isn’t at all drying like I expected it would be. In fact, this seemed to help resolve some dryness issues I was having on the sides of my nose.
It’s true it’s an additional skincare product to purchase. But I’ve always felt like skincare products are something worth spending on because your skin is going to be seen every minute of every day. It’s not like a dress you’re splurging on to wear on special occasions. It’s worth the investment.
However, that being said, I’m going to experiment with some other cleansing oils and micellar waters to use as a makeup remover before using my actual cleanser. I’ve had good luck out of high end skincare products but I’ve also found some drugstore favorites. I’ll have to get back with you on what other products work great at double-cleansing.
Have you tried double cleansing? What cleansing products are you loving right now?
