‘Tis the season for berry lips, wouldn’t you agree? My usual lip color generally falls more into the nude-ish pink color scheme but as soon as the leaves start to fall, I’ve got to have a berry lip! And judging from the number of makeup tutorials I’ve recently seen about berry lips, I’d say that most of us are craving a darker lip right now.
So if you’re in the market for a lippie in this beautiful hue, here’re 3 to consider:
First up is NYX in Doll:
Doll is a beautiful berry that tends toward red as well. It’s a creamy formula that feels great on the lips. It tends to feather out but a lip liner can prevent that. It needs to be reapplied throughout the day so I wouldn’t consider it long wear. I love to wear it when I’m wearing black. It has a very 1940s makeup vibe I can’t get enough of.
Next we have Revlon Colorburst in Crush:
Crush is one I fell in love with last fall and got a lot of wear out of. It’s a deep burgundy that’s just right for fall. It’s definitely a long wearing formula. When I know I have a busy day ahead and won’t have time to constantly recheck my makeup, I reach for this one. I can apply it and go, without giving any more thought to my lipstick throughout the day.
Lastly, here’s Plumful:
Plumful is a berry that also leans into pink. I would almost say it’s a raspberry. MAC’s description of it is “blossoming rose-plum.” It’s a Lustre finish, meaning it’s got a fabulous glossy finish. It does need to be reapplied often but it’s a MAC so it’s so worth it. Feels good, looks good and smells good. You cannot go wrong with MAC lipsticks! I had this shade on my wish list for 6 months and finally broke down and bought it. It’s a perfect pop of color and one I think would be a gorgeous choice for Valentine’s Day. (My beauty junkie is showing; I’m already planning my makeup for St. Valentine’s!)
And all three of them swatched together… going from the top down, MAC in Plumful, Revlon Colorburst in Crush and NYX in Doll.
I also thought it might be helpful to share a lipliner I wear with all three of these shades. It’s Epic by Rimmel and it works equally well with all the shades shown. I really like Rimmel lip liners. They prevent feathering, help accentuate your lip shape and are less than $5. You can’t lose with them.
Do any of these catch your eye? What’s on your lips right now? I’m always up for new suggestions when it comes to lipstick shades so please share with me!
