Everyone needs to have an updo in their rotation of hairstyles. It’s perfect for days when you want to look a little more polished or just want your hair out of your face. It’s also a good style for when your hair isn’t freshly washed.
Working with fine hair is a little more tricky when it comes to an updo. It’s best to work with it to give it volume before you actually start styling it. Here’s how I accomplish that.
Start with curled, sprayed and tousled hair. I used a 3/4 inch curling iron but you can use whatever size works best for your hair. I also tease the top of my hair to give it more volume.
Pull it to the nape of your neck and began twisting tightly at the bottom but leaving some looseness at the top. Secure your updo (I used a clip but you can also use bobby pins). Next, began to pull your hair upward at your crown. I use a pic and gently lift the hair upward, creating an illusion of more fullness. Then I use my fingers to hold the hair exactly as I want it and spray.
Here’s a picture of the finished result and a picture from the back.
As I’ve said before, I’m definitely not a hairstylist; I’m just sharing what works for me.
